Rohit Shetty takes the wheel: New Skoda Kylaq teaser released

Skoda India is preparing for the global launch of its most affordable SUV, the Kylaq, scheduled for November 6. The latest addition to the Kylaq promotion is Bollywood director Rohit Shetty, who appears in the latest teaser for the SUV.

New Skoda Kylaq teaser: Global unveil details

For the first time, Skoda will enter the compact SUV segment with the all-new Kylaq. A recent teaser shared on social media suggests that the dynamic duo of Rohit Shetty and Kylaq will bring double the action. Is this a subtle message from Skoda to its competitors? The global unveiling can be streamed live on Jio Cinema at 12:30 PM on November 6.

New Skoda Kylaq teaser: What to expect? 

The Kylaq is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform like the Kushaq and the Slavia. The Kylaq sports a split headlight design like other SUVs in the Skoda lineup, all LED lights and the signature butterfly design front grille. The top variant will get all-black alloy wheels and the rear comes with T-shaped LED tail lamps. 

The cabin is inspired by the Kushaq and is equipped with a 10-inch touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument console, a wireless phone charger, electrically adjustable seats, front ventilated seats and connected tech. 

The Kylaq is available with a 1-litre TSI engine with an output of 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. It will offer two transmission options — a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter.

New Skoda Kylaq teaser: Safety

Skoda is awaiting the crash test results of the Kylaq, but as it is based on the same architecture as Kushaq and Slavia, the compact SUV should receive a 5-star safety rating. If it does manage to achieve this, the Kylaq will be the fourth sub-4 metre SUV to be awarded a 5-star Global NCAP rating after the Tata Nexon, Mahindra 3X0 and the Tata Punch.
