Kia is all geared up to launch an all-new compact SUV for the Indian market. Called Syros, this new SUV will be making its official debut on December 19, while it is expected to go on sale sometime early next year. The SUV has been spied on numerous occasions over the past one year.
The Korean carmaker has also shared a few teasers of the same on its social media handles over the past few weeks, revealing some key details about the car. While official details still remain under wraps, a recent media report reveals some information about the Syros’ powertrain details.
Kia Syros engine options
According to a recent Autocar India report, the Syros will come with two engine options. These include a 1.5-litre diesel engine which kicks out 114 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. This oil burner is seen in other Kia and Hyundai models like Sonet, Seltos, Carens, Venue, and Creta. The other option is a 1.0-litre GDI turbocharged petrol engine pushing out 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque. This unit performs duties on Sonet, Venue, and Verna.

As far as gearbox options are concerned, Syros diesel will come with a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic just like the one seen on the Sonet. On the other hand, Sonet petrol will come with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. Unlike Sonet, Syros won’t be offered with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor.
