Honda Africa Twin recalled in India — Here’s why

Honda has issued a recall for its flagship adventure motorcycle, the Africa Twin in India. The recall for the Africa Twin is in line with Honda’s global recall for the motorcycle, and the affected motorcycles are made in 2022. It is unclear how many motorcycles are affected in India, but the recall is over an issue with the motorcycle’s ECU.

Honda Africa Twin recall — What is the issue?

Honda has recalled the Africa Twin over an issue with the ECU. The ECU, which controls most aspects of the motorcycle, has a programming glitch, which can affect the throttle action of the motorcycle. The glitch may turn on the wheelie control of the motorcycle under acceleration, leading to a loss of balance in certain scenarios.

Honda says that the affected motorcycles were made between February 2022 and October 2022, however, has not revealed how many are affected. Honda BigWing dealerships will fix the issue free of cost by updating the software on the ECU. Honda Africa Twin owners can also check if their vehicles are part of the recall by checking the VIN on the Honda website.
