New TVS Apache RTR 160 vs Hero Xtreme 160R comparison

The 160cc motorcycle segment needs to balance three aspects — style, performance, and efficiency. Two motorcycles do it well — the TVS Apache RTR 160 and the Hero Xtreme 160R. However, the Apache has seen an update recently with changes to its running gear, making it a more compelling choice compared to the Xtreme 160R.

The updated TVS Apache RTR 160 is priced at Rs 1.40 lakh, ex-showroom, while the Hero Xtreme 160R is priced at Rs 1.38 lakh, ex-showroom. With the price difference being marginal, here’s how they compare against each other in terms of specifications and hardware.

The Apache RTR 160 has received a new Granite Grey dual-colour scheme as part of the update, while it retains its familiar design. However, the biggest update is the new USD fork at the front, replacing the traditional telescopic units. Apart from these two updates, the motorcycle retains its 17-inch wheel configuration, disc brakes at both ends, a digital instrument cluster with phone connectivity, adjustable clutch and brake levers, and more. The Apache is well-equipped in the segment.

The Hero Xtreme 160R is on par with the Apache RTR 160, however, the latter has an edge over the Hero product.
