Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 Highlights: Sharad Pawar warns opponents, urges voters to defeat Ajit faction

Maharashtra election: With just a day left for Maharashtra’s campaign period to end, the final push is in full swing ahead of the state elections on Wednesday. The 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will go to the polls in a single phase on November 20, with results to be declared on November 23. The election is set to be a fierce two-pronged battle between the ruling Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, which includes Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP.

As the election nears, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged party workers to focus on securing every polling booth, with targeted outreach to women, youth, and farmers. He suggested distributing videos showcasing BJP-led government schemes to strengthen voter support.

He was addressing a rally in Madha in Solapur district. He also recollected an incident of almost five decades ago when a defection case resulted him to lose his post from the leader of the opposition and his resolve that led to the defeat of all those who betrayed him.
