Honda Activa electric teased again ahead of Nov 27 launch

Honda is gearing up for the launch of its first electric two-wheeler in India which is rumoured to be the Activa Electric. The Japanese auto giant recently announced through a teaser that this electric two-wheeler will break covers in India on November 27. The company has shared another teaser of its upcoming electric scooter on its social media handles.

The latest teaser shows faint glimpses of the upcoming scooter including highlights such as headlight, electric motor, and seat profile. Just like the previous teaser, a rectangular LED headlamp is revealed in the latest teaser too, with the Honda logo slapped below the rectangular cluster.

This suggests that contrary to previous expectations, the upcoming electric scooter will not look similar to the petrol-powered Activa. It could also possibly mean Honda opting for a brand new nameplate for its upcoming e-scooter, however, that is not confirmed yet. In all likelihood, the upcoming e-scooter will be based on the CUV e: scooter which made its debut at recently concluded EICMA last week in Milan, Italy.

Honda Activa Electric: Expected details

That said, the underpinnings of this scooter are most likely to be completely different from the CUV. Instead, the India-spec Honda electric scooter will most probably be underpinned by a modified version of the ICE platform that underpins the Activa. Honda says that performance of this upcoming electric scooter  will be similar to Activa 110. It is expected to be powered by a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a range of around 100 km on a single charge.

We expect the battery to be packaged in a better way than the CUV which gets the battery under the seat leaving no storage space. Whether it will be removable or not, cannot be confirmed at this point in time. It is expected to get telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties will be carried out by a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.

In terms of features, expect it to offer a digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, LED lighting, and more. We expect this scooter to be priced at Rs 1.00 to 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
