IndiGo airline operator InterGlobe Aviation reported a drop in first-quarter profit on Wednesday. The company posted a profit of Rs 2,176.3 crore for the April–June period, down 20.25 per cent from Rs 2,728.8 crore a year ago, and down 29 per cent sequentially from Rs 3,067.5 crore in Q4 FY25. Revenue from operations stood at Rs 20,496.3 crore, up 4.73 per cent from Rs 19,570.7 crore a year ago in the same quarter.
“Despite industry wide disruptions, we reported a net profit of Rs 2,176.3 crore with a net profit margin of around 11% for the quarter ended June 2025. While the revenue environment saw moderation, demand for air travel held strong as we served more than 31 million passengers during the quarter, reflecting a growth of around 12 percent on a year-over-year basis,” Pieter Elbers, CEO of InterGlobe Aviation, said in a release.

Passenger traffic remained robust as IndiGo carried 31.0 million passengers during the first quarter of FY26, registering a 11.6 per cent growth compared to the same period last year. Despite airspace restrictions, geopolitical tensions, and a tragic aviation accident earlier in the quarter, demand for air travel held up.
Ticket revenue soars as total income rises 6.4 per cent
IndiGo’s Passenger ticket revenues also rose 7.8 per cent to Rs 17,792.7 crore, while ancillary revenues grew 22.1 per cent to Rs 2,153.4 crore. Total income increased 6.4 per cent to Rs 21,542 crore.
However, expenses also surged. Total costs for the quarter rose 10.2 per cent to Rs 19,231.9 crore. While fuel costs declined 9.1 per cent to Rs 5,832.6 crore, non-fuel costs jumped 21.5 per cent to Rs 13,399 crore. The airline’s cost per available seat kilometre (CASK) dropped 6.8 per cent, but CASK excluding fuel increased 2.5 per cent.
Flight reliability at 99.88%, cancellations at 1%
India’s biggest airline by market share, recorded a technical dispatch reliability of 99.88 per cent and on-time performance of 83.4 per cent at six major metros. The flight cancellation rate stood at 1.0 per cent.
Fleet size at 416; 18 aircraft trimmed in Q1
The airline ended the quarter with a fleet of 416 aircraft, including A320s, A321s, ATRs, freighters, and damp-leased widebody planes. It recorded a net reduction of 18 aircraft during the quarter.
