Bharti Airtel launches single international roaming plan for 189 countries: Check plan details, charges

Airtel has launched a new international roaming plan for its users that will be applicable in 189 countries. The new international roaming plan aims to smooth the user experience in different countries without worrying about different international roaming zones and recharge packs.

The plan offers users access to unlimited data at fair usage charges. Additionally, the plan offers auto-activation upon landing as well as in-flight connectivity. For the frequent flyer, the plan offers an auto-renewal feature. 

Bharti Airtel plan for NRIs

Airtel has launched an additional international roaming plan for the NRI community and those who wish to stay longer abroad. The plan is priced at Rs 4000 and has a validity of one year. The plan offers 100 calling minutes and 5 GB of data for international roaming. Also, the customers can use the same plan in India. This plan offers 1.5 GB of daily data in India and unlimited calling service. 

Siddharth Sharma, Director Marketing and CEO – Connected Homes, Bharti Airtel, said in a statement that user convenience remains the company’s priority and that the new plans aim to simplify the international roaming experience. 

“We have dramatically simplified our IR plans that will truly redefine our value proposition for customers and give them the freedom to use data and voice generously while roaming the world. We remain consistently committed to delivering solutions that meet our customers’ ever-evolving needs.”, Sharma adds. 

Bharti Airtel is among the biggest telecom operators in the world. The company has a presence in 15 countries and has over 550 million customers worldwide. It is the second-largest mobile operator in Africa. 

The company serves a large number of international roaming customers in Europe and North America. In November 2024, Bharti Global, a subsidiary of parent company Bharti Enterprise,  acquired a 24.5 percent stake in British Telecom for around $4 billion. 

In India, Bharti Airtel has acquired 400 MHz of 5G spectrum from Adani Enterprise on April 22 to enhance its services in India further. 

The Bharti Airtel share has been trading under pressure today, down over a percent at 1:20 pm when the story was published.
