UPI Down: Digital payments hit! Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm face outage amid nationwide UPI glitch

Users across India are experiencing disruptions in UPI transactions, with payment failures reported on Google Pay, Paytm, and various banking apps. According to Downdetector, outage reports spiked in the evening, affecting fund transfers, transactions, and login access. The outage caused frustration among users relying on these apps for daily transactions.

A surge in complaints was recorded on Wednesday evening, with the outage graph showing a sharp spike of over 23,000 complaints after 7:00 PM.

As per DownDetector, Google Pay users primarily faced payment failures (72%), followed by website (14%) and app-related issues (14%). Paytm users also encountered disruptions, with 86% of complaints related to payments, while login and purchase issues accounted for 9% and 6%, respectively.

Banking services were also impacted, with the State Bank of India (SBI) reporting fund transfer failures (47%), mobile banking issues (37%), and online banking disruptions (16%). Overall, 84% of UPI-related complaints were linked to failed payments.

The disruption began in the late afternoon, with complaints surging around 7 PM, as per Downdetector trends. Social media users also reported failed transactions and fund transfer delays. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which oversees UPI, has yet to release a statement on the cause of the outage.

Many users turned to social media to report issues with digital payment platforms like Google Pay and PhonePe, questioning whether they were alone in experiencing technical glitches.
