Swiggy fleet to be 100% electric by 2030

Food delivery major Swiggy, at an event in New Delhi on Tuesday, announced that it will transition to a 100% electric vehicle (EV) delivery fleet by 2030. The company currently partners with 540,000 delivery partners across India and already delivers some orders using EVs.

In October last year, Swiggy also launched its XL EV fleet for bulk orders.

At the Swiggy Sustainability Summit 2025, the company revealed a new partnership with Sulabh International, which will allow its delivery partners in key cities to use Sulabh Shauchalya free of charge upon showing their registration.

“By enabling our delivery partners to use public sanitation facilities across key cities in India, we aim to enhance their everyday experience and reinforce our commitment to their well-being,” said Rohit Kapoor, CEO, Swiggy Food Marketplace.

Swiggy further committed to help 100% of its restaurant partners transition to responsible packaging alternatives by 2030.

“The company is committed to reduce perishable waste in its direct operations by 25% year-on-year through improved processes and automation in its value chain,” it added.

Among other commitments, Swiggy stated that every locally available harvest will be 100% indigenously sourced by 2025. The company also plans to facilitate the participation of over one million individuals in its value chain by 2030 through initiatives like Swiggy Skills.

“It will also empower 100,000 women in Swiggy’s value chain by 2030, including entrepreneurs, delivery partners, and employees,” the company’s announcement said.

Sriharsha Majety, MD and group CEO, Swiggy, noted that following the company’s listing on the markets, its responsibilities have expanded.

“The sustainability goals we unveil today reaffirm our commitment to responsible growth, one that fosters inclusivity, empowers communities, and drives sustainable innovation,” he said.

“By leveraging technology and innovation, we aim to drive meaningful change, creating scalable solutions that address the environmental and societal challenges of our time.”
