Sensex Nifty Today | Stock Market Live Updates: The Indian stock markets have slipped in the red after opening on a positive note on Thursday, with the Nifty struggling around the 22,300 mark. The broader market are however in the green with the BSE Small Cap Index up over 1% in early trade. Most Asian markets trading higher after the US delayed tariffs on select automakers.

Key things to watch out –

Trump’s tariff warning: US President Donald Trump has once again taken aim at India’s high tariffs, particularly in the auto sector, where duties reportedly exceed 100%. Addressing Congress, he announced that from April 2, the US will impose reciprocal tariffs, matching India’s levies. He also indicated at additional trade barriers if American companies face restrictions in India.

Bond Market selloff hits Asia: A sharp bond market selloff rattled Asia, with Japan’s 10-year yield surging to 1.5% – a level last seen in 2009 amid inflation concerns. The downturn, sparked by heavy selling in German bunds, sent US Treasury yields higher for the third consecutive session, nearing 4.3%. Bond yields in Australia and New Zealand also saw a significant uptick. Meanwhile, Asian equities found some relief from the delay in certain US tariffs on Mexico and Canada.

US markets: US stock markets closed higher on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq Composite surging 1.46% to 18,552.73. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.14% to close at 43,006.59, while the S&P 500 advanced 1.12% to settle at 5,842.63.
