Oyo brings DanCenter to India

Oravel Stays, the parent company of Oyo, on Wednesday announced it is launching its European holiday home brand DanCenter in India. Under the brand, the company will initially offer luxurious villas in North Goa’s Siolim.

DanCenter is a vacation home management brand founded in 1957. It allows homeowners to list their properties for stays through online travel agents (OTAs) and its own website.

Currently, it has over 12,000 properties in its portfolio across Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany. Oyo acquired the company in 2019.

After Siolim, the company is likely to launch premium serviced apartments in Goa with real estate major Provident Group.

“There is a growing demand for luxury holiday home rentals in India and we think it is the right time to introduce the DanCenter experience to our guests in India,” said Aditya Sharma, luxury business head, Oravel Stays.

Arjun Singh Meena, business head at DanCenter India said the company will meet the Indian travellers’ need for personalised and high-quality experiences.

Oyo has been aiming to launch an IPO, with a target to file the draft papers by the first quarter of 2025-26. Its plans have been delayed several times in the past but were revived after it reported its first-ever profit after tax of around Rs 229 crore in 2023-24.

It has been aggressive in acquisitions to fuel international expansion.

“I see growth ahead, not just in India, with emerging travel trends such as premiumisation, spiritual travel, business travel and conferences and destination weddings, but also in our other key markets of the Nordics, Southeast Asia, US and UK. FY25 will clearly be even more exciting,” Ritesh Agarwal, founder of Oyo, had said while announcing the results for 2023-24.

In December, Oyo completed the acquisition of US-based G6 Hospitality from Blackstone for $525 million. Under the acquisition, Oyo got around 1,500 franchised hotels across the USA and Canada.
