Delhi Elections: The Delhi election’s vote counting is underway, and trends suggest that the BJP is leading on 48 seats and the APP on 24 seats. Of all the 70 seats, there are some high-profile seats catching everyone’s attention. One such seat was the New Delhi constituency, where the BJP’s Jat leader Parvesh Singh Verma defeated former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, as per news channels. Parvesh is the son of former BJP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma.
Though New Delhi is not a Jat-dominated seat, the BJP has still fielded a strong Jat leader like Parvesh Verma against Kejriwal, which itself shows how the BJP wanted to win back the confidence of the Jat community, which in the previous two Delhi elections voted in favour of the AAP. However, in Lok Sabha polls, the Jat community kept voting for the BJP, playing a major role in giving the saffron party a decisive edge over the AAP and the Congress.
Even though the BJP chose Parvesh for a seat where Jat votes don’t matter much, it sent a signal to Jat voters how the BJP looked at them for winning the Delhi elections. There are around 10 Jat-dominated seats in Delhi. Let’s take a look at who’s leading and who’s trailing on these 10 seats.
