NSE posts Q3 profit jump of 94.07% to Rs 3,833.58 crore, revenue up 23.68% YoY

NSE India (National Stock Exchange of India Ltd) on Tuesday posted a profit of Rs 3,833.58 crore for the fiscal third quarter, recording a surge of 94.07 per cent in comparison to Rs 1,975.34 crore during the corresponding quarter of FY24. It reported Q3 revenue from operations at Rs 4,349.41 crore, up 23.68 per cent as against Rs 3,516.56 crore during the same period of previous financial year. Operating EBITDA for Q3 stood at Rs 3,398 crore. 

The consolidated revenue from transaction charges for Q3FY25 stood at Rs 3,445 crore, posting a sequential decline of 4 per cent due to a reduction in volumes across cash market and derivatives segment. On a consolidated basis, total expenditure in Q3FY25 declined by 17 per cent QoQ to Rs 1,084 crore.

Earnings per share (nonannualized) increased to Rs 15.49 in Q3FY25 from Rs 12.68 in Q2FY25, after considering the issuance of bonus equity shares in the ratio of 4:1.

Excluding the gains from sale of investment in subsidiaries / associate and the impact of expenses related to SEBI settlement fees as well as reversal of provision for core SGF recorded in the previous quarter, the normalized consolidated profit before tax in Q3FY25 declined by 3 per cent QoQ to Rs 3,770 crore. 

For the nine months ended December 31, 2024, the consolidated total income grew by 30 per cent YoY to Rs 14,780 crore and net profit for 9MFY25 came in at Rs 9,538 crore. Earnings per share (non-annualized) in 9MFY25 increased to Rs 38.54 from Rs 23.51 in 9MFY24, after considering the issuance of bonus equity shares in the ratio of 4:1

In Q3FY25, the cash market trading segment recorded an average daily traded volume (ADTVs) of Rs 1,04,115 crore, down 19 per cent QoQ. The ADTV for equity futures segment in Q3FY25 stood at Rs 1,71,825 crore (decline of 15 per cent QoQ); while the ADTV for equity options (premium value) stood at Rs 61,295 crore (decline of 7 per cent QoQ).

In the 9MFY25 period, NSE’s contribution to the exchequer was Rs 45,499 crore which comprised STT/CTT of Rs 37,271 crore, stamp duty of Rs 2,976 crore, SEBI fees of Rs 1,613 crore,
