Infosys to create 17,000 more jobs as it announces plans to expand IT campus in Hyderabad

Infosys has announced its plans to strengthen its strategic partnership with Telangana government with the expansion of Infosys’ IT campus at Pocharam in Hyderabad. This will create an additional 17,000 jobs in the Pocharam campus, where Infosys already employs over 35,000 people, making it one of their largest campuses in the country, stated a report by The Indian Express. 

The announcement was made on Thursday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, following the meeting of Infosys CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka with the IT and Industries Minister of Telangana, D Sridhar Babu.

The construction of the new IT buildings in phase 1 will be completed in the next 2-3 years and will accommodate 10,000 people. This will entail an investment of Rs 750 crore. “Our partnership with the Government of Telangana reflects our shared vision of driving innovation, empowering communities, and strengthening the IT landscape,” said Jayesh Sanghrajka.

Sridhar Babu said that the state government remains dedicated to nurturing talent, creating opportunities, and fostering strategic alliances to propel the state’s economy forward.

Earlier on January 16, Infosys had announced its fiscal third quarter earnings report, wherein it had stated that the company’s attrition rate stood at 13.7 per cent for the last twelve months for the IT services for the reporting quarter of FY25. The company’s attrition rate was 12.9 per cent in the previous quarter of the same fiscal year. Similarly, it was standing at 12.9 per cent in Q3 FY24. 

However, the total employee count stood at 323,379 in Q3 FY25, compared to 322,663 employees in the same quarter a year ago. This is an increase of 0.2 per cent or 716 year-on-year. Women employees make up 39 per cent of the total headcount, which was the same in the Q2 FY25.
