Petrol, Diesel Price Today 2 January 2024: Oil prices surged on Thursday, marking the first trading day of 2025, as investors are monitoring China’s economic recovery and fuel demand following President Xi Jinping’s commitment to stimulate growth. As per the latest report, Brent crude futures went up 46 cents to reach $75.10 per barrel. Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures hiked by 49 cents to $72.21 per barrel.

Meanwhile, India experienced a major surge in petrol and diesel consumption in December 2024, triggered by an increase in travel because of the holiday season, as per preliminary data announced by state-owned fuel retailers on Wednesday. While a rising trend has been observed year-over-year in recent months, diesel demand trailed due to the wedding season. As per PTI, petrol sales generated by three major state-owned firms, which all together comprise 90 percent of the fuel market, climbed up to 9.8 percent to 2.99 million tonnes in December.
