Global action at this hour – Here are top 5 global cues to watch ahead of market opening

GIFT Nifty indicated that Indian equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 might see a flat start on Monday following Asian markets opening on a mixed note in early trade hours. 

Previously, on Friday, the NSE Nifty 50 closed the session 63 points or 0.27% higher at 23,813, while the BSE Sensex closed flat at 78,699.

Key global cues to know on December 30, 2024

Asian Markets

Asia-Pacific markets were trading on a mixed note on Monday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was trading 0.71% lower at 39,994. The Korean index Kospi trades 0.82% higher at 2,424. The Asia Dow was trading 0.44% higher at 3,727.77. However, the benchmark Chinese index, Shanghai Composite was trading flat at 3,400.

Wall Street

US indices closed Friday on a lower note. The S&P 500 closed the session 1.11% lower at 5,971. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite dipped 1.49% to close the session at 19,722. The 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 333.59 points or 0.77% to close at 42,992.21.

US Dollar 

The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the dollar’s value against a basket of six foreign currencies, was down 0.01% at 107.95 on Monday morning. The index measures the US dollar’s strength or weakness against major currencies. The basket contains currencies such as the British Pound, Euro, Swedish Krona, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, etc. Also, the Indian rupee depreciated 0.29% to close at 85.52 against the US Dollar on Friday.

Crude Oil

WTI crude prices were trading at $70.55 down by 0.08%, while Brent crude prices were trading at $73.78 down by 0.01%, on Monday morning. 

FII, DII Data

Foreign institutional investors (FII) were the net sellers of shares net worth Rs 1,323.29 crore. Meanwhile, the Domestic institutional investors (DII) were the net buyers of shares worth Rs 2,544.64 crore on December 27,
