Indian benchmark equity indices ended the day on a lower note (December 24), with the headline indices, Sensex and Nifty, closing in the red in a rangebound session. The BSE Sensex ended the day at 78,472.87, down by 67.30 points or 0.09 per cent, while the NSE Nifty ended at 23,727.65, shedding by 25.80 points or 0.11 per cent.
The Nifty Bank index also ended the day in the red, ending the day at 51,233, down by 84.60 points or 0.16 per cent.
The stock market, including the Sensex and Nifty, will remain closed on Wednesday, December 25, in observance of Christmas.

Sensex Top Gainers
Among the 30 stocks on the Sensex, Tata Motors led the pack, rising by 1.92 per cent, followed by ITC with a 0.86 per cent surge, and Nestle India, up by 0.78 per cent. M&M and TCS followed the top 5 gainers list, ending the day in green, up by 0.62 per cent and 0.57 per cent, respectively.
Sensex Top Losers
The top laggards on the Sensex included PowerGrid, shedding by 1.79 per cent, followed by SBI, dropping 1.11 per cent. Titan fell by 0.98 per cent, Tata Steel down 0.95 per cent and IndusInd Bank, decreased by 0.93 per cent. The list further followed with UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Maruti.

Nifty 50 Top Gainers
The top gainers on the Nifty included Tata Motors, which surged by 1.79 per cent, followed by Adani Enterprises, up by 1,41 per cent. Eicher Motor saw a surge of 1.04 per cent. Furthermore, in the top 5 gainers Nestle India and BPCL posted a gain of 0.86 per cent and 0.85 per cent, respectively.
