Tata Motors is going all guns blazing with the expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. The company launched two all-new EVs in 2024, Punch.ev and Curvv.ev, both vehicles based on the new Acti.ev modular skateboard architecture which Tata claims to have developed indigenously for its upcoming electric cars.
Among the many EVs lined up for launch by Tata Motors, one of the most anticipated models is the Sierra which will be available in an ICE avatar as well. The ‘Sierra’ was an iconic moniker which existed back in the 1990s. Tata Motors decided to bring back the Sierra when it first showcased a concept of the reincarnated model in a fully-electric avatar back at Auto Expo 2020.
A more evolved prototype of the same was showcased at the inaugural Bharat Mobility Expo last year. Now, the new-gen Sierra has been spotted for the first time for real. Images featuring the new Sierra in its full glory have gone viral on the internet. On the first glance, the vehicle seen in the images appears to be a near-production prototype since the panels look complete. It suggests that the Sierra is in its final stages of development.

Next-gen Tata Sierra: Exterior design
This spied unit of Sierra is a mirror image of the model displayed by Tata Motors at last year’s Auto Expo which indicates going forward, there won’t be any major visual changes, at least on the exterior. While the original Sierra was a two-door SUV, the second-gen Sierra will come with a traditional 4-door setup but it is likely to retain the massive side-hinged tailgate from the original model.
Up front, the Sierra gets a sleek LED DRL strip along the bonnet, vertically-stacked projector LED headlamps, a large dual-tone bumper with gloss black treatment, squared fog lamps, dual-tone alloy wheels. The side profile reveals a boxy silhouette with a flat roofline and upright pillar along with flush-fitting door handles and black roof rails.
