New KTM 790 Adventure breaks cover — Will it come to India?

KTM has unveiled the new 790 Adventure for the global markets, which now gets updates in terms of its hardware and revised styling. In KTM’s global lineup, the 790 Adventure sits below the 890 Adventure and the motorcycle making it to India is high, as KTM has plans on bringing lower variants to India to attract a wider customer base.

New KTM 790 Adventure — What’s new?

As part of the update, the new 790 Adventure gets revised styling, however, it retains its overall rally bike design that has been inspired by the 450cc Dakar Rally machines. The new 790 Adventure will be available in two colour options: White and orange.

The next big change is the front suspension as the 790 finally gets the 43mm WP Apex open cartridge front forks from the 890 Adventure. The 890 is a capable off-roader thanks to its suspension setup and now the 790 with the same hardware will make the motorcycle more off-road-focused.

New KTM 790 Adventure — Engine specifications

KTM has not made any changes to the engine of the 790 Adventure. It retains the 799cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine makes 94bhp and 87Nm of torque. KTM has also given the 790 new throttle bodies with integrated knock sensors for the motorcycle to run on lower-octane petrol.

If KTM decides to launch the 790 Adventure in India, the company could have a price advantage over its rivals in the market. The 790 engine is a familiar unit as KTM did sell the 790 Duke in India for a short while. Now, KTM has officially launched its range of big bikes, including the 890 range, the 1290 Super Adventure, and the 1390 Super Duke R.
