Mahindra XEV 9e coupe electric SUV debut tomorrow: Things to look out for

Mahindra will officially take the covers off its first Electric Origin SUVs— XEV 9e and BE 6e— tomorrow at the Mahindra Unlimit India in Chennai. The homegrown carmaker has been building the hype for their unveil since the last couple of weeks by sharing multiple teasers of both the battery-powered SUVs on its social media handles.

Ahead of its official debut, let us look at some of the important things to look out for in the XEV 9e.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Coupe design

The first highlight of the XEV 9e that comes to mind is its unique futuristic exterior design. As seen in the teaser images, the XEV 9e is based on the XUV e9 concept which broke covers back in 2022. It can be safely assumed that the XEV 9e is a fully-electric coupe version of the XUV 700, so we can expect Mahindra to borrow a few body panels from the latter. That said, there is plenty to differentiate between the two models.

Like the XUV700, the XEV 9e boasts a muscular design with sophisticated touches. The connected LED lighting at the front and rear along with the sloping roofline enhance its contemporary appeal. Other prominent modern elements visible are flush door handles and aerodynamic alloy wheels.

Mahindra XEV 9e: INGLO platform

While there may be a few visual similarities between XEV 9e and XUV700, underneath the XEV 9e is a completely different machine. Like all Born Electric SUVs, the XEV 9e will be underpinned by the INGLO skateboard architecture which has been co-developed by Mahindra and Volkswagen. The platform integrates the battery pack so that the space is optimally utilised to offer better weight distribution. The platform can also accommodate different drivetrains: front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive, and all-wheel-drive.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Interiors & Features

Through all the spy shots and recent teasers shared by Mahindra have shared glimpses of the XEV 9e’s cabin interiors. Highlights include a triple-screen layout that spans the entire width of the dashboard. Other notable highlights are sleek air-con vents, ambient lighting, an illuminated centre console, an illuminated drive selector, and a massive glass roof which flaunts Mahindra’s reworked Twin Peaks logo.
