Hyundai Ioniq 9 breaks cover ahead of LA Auto Show

The much-awaited Hyundai Ioniq 9 has been officially unveiled ahead of its LA Auto Show debut. The Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be the carmaker’s flagship EV offering and will go on sale in the US and Korea in the first half of 2025, followed by Europe and other international markets subsequently.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 — Platform and powertrain

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be based on the company’s E-GMP platform and will sport a massive 110.3kWh battery pack. Hyundai claims a range of 620km with a full charge and the battery pack can be juiced up from 10–80 percent in 24 minutes with a 350kW charger. The Ioniq 9 will also feature a vehicle-to-load functionality, where other devices can be powered using the vehicle’s battery pack.

In terms of drivetrain, the Ioniq 9 will be available as a rear-wheel-drive or as an all-wheel-drive (AWD) version. The Hyundai Ionoq 9 will be available as a performance version with AWD that can accelerate from 0–100kmph in 5.2 seconds while reaching a top speed of 199kmph.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 — Design and features

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is a massive vehicle and measures 5,060mm in length. Despite its size, Hyundai says that the Ioniq 9 has a low drag coefficient of just 0.259 Cd. The Hyundai EV flagship runs on 19-inch wheels and features a signature LED DRL lightbar. The Ionoq 9 will be available in a total of 16 exterior colour options and seven interior themes.

In terms of features, the Ioniq 9 gets a swivelling second row, a 12-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a 12-inch digital instrument console, an optional 14-speaker audio system by Bose, and more. Safety includes 10 airbags as standard and an extensive ADAS suite.
