Jharkhand Elections Phase 2: Richest candidate declares assets worth Rs 402 cr – Check list of top 10 wealthiest candidates

Samajwadi Party candidate Aquil Akhtar, contesting from the Pakur constituency, is the richest candidate in the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections, with assets worth over Rs 402 crore, according to a report.

The Jharkhand Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 522 out of 528 candidates contesting in Phase II of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections. The second phase, covering 38 constituencies, will take place on November 20.

Following Akhtar is Independent candidate Niranjan Rai, who is contesting from Dhanwar Assembly seat in Giridih district. Rai has declared assets worth over Rs 137 crore. Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) candidate Mohammad Danish, also contesting from Dhanwar, has declared assets worth Rs 32 crore.

Out of the 522 candidates analysed, 127 (24%) are crorepatis. Of these, 38 candidates have assets worth Rs 5 crore or more, while 42 candidates have assets between Rs 2 crore and Rs 5 crore.

Among major parties, 23 (72%) of the 32 BJP candidates, 18 (90%) of the 20 JMM candidates, 10 (83%) of the 12 Congress candidates, 5 (83%) of the 6 AJSU Party candidates, 4 (17%) of the 24 BSP candidates, and 2 (100%) of the 2 RJD candidates have declared assets of over Rs 1 crore.

The average assets per candidate contesting in Phase II of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 is Rs 2.53 crore, according to ADR report.
