KTM 1290 Super Adventure S launched in India: Here’s what it offers

Among the plethora of big bikes launched yesterday, KTM also brought its flagship adventure bike– 1290 Super Adventure S. Known for its legendary road-biased and adventure touring capabilities, the 1290 Super Adventure will only be offered in flagship KTM dealerships in cities like Bangalore, Pune, and Delhi as a fully-imported CBU model.

KTM 1290 Super Adventure S: Mechanical specs

Powering the 1290 Super Adventure S is a 1301cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine developing 158bhp of maximum power and 138Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch. Underpinning this adventure tourer is a Chrome-moly tubular space frame and a powder-coated aluminium rear subframe.

This chassis sits on a fully adjustable, semi-active suspension setup featuring 48mm upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock sourced from WP Apex. Braking duties are handled by dual 320mm discs in the front and a 267mm disc at the rear. The super adventure tourer rolls on cast aluminium wheels wrapped with Mitas Terra Force R tyres. The bike weighs a hefty 250 kg (kerb).

KTM 1290 Super Adventure S: Features

Being one of the flagship models, KTM has kitted out the 1290 Super Adventure with all the bells and whistles. These include convenience features such as an LED headlamp, a radar sensor that offers adaptive cruise control, a large windscreen, a quick-access storage compartment, USB charging port, heated grips, keyless ignition, and a 7-inch digital instrument console that packs all the usual stuff such as Bluetooth connectivity, etc.

In addition, there is a whole gamut of electronic rider aids such as traction control, bi-directional quickshifter, tyre pressure monitoring system, switchable rear ABS, ride by wire, and multiple ride modes. One can also avail the optional Rally mode on top of the standard package.
