Won’t let Maharashtra become Congress’ ATM: PM Modi at Akola rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticised the Congress party, saying that wherever it forms government, the state becomes an ATM for the party’s leaders. Speaking at a rally in Akola for Maharashtra’s state assembly elections, Modi declared, “We won’t let Maharashtra become Congress’s ATM.”

Modi’s Ambedkar pitch

Modi also challenged Congress leaders to prove if they had ever visited places linked to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, which he referred to as the ‘panchteerth’ (five sacred places). These include Ambedkar’s birthplace in Mhow, his study location in London, Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur where he embraced Buddhism, his memorial in Delhi, and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai.

The PM also praised the people of Haryana for preventing Congress’ divisive tactics by staying united, following the mantra ‘Ek hai toh safe hai’ (we are safe if we are united).

PM accuses MVA of being involved in massive scams

PM Modi went on to say that Congress’s goal is to weaken the country and stir division between castes. He accused the opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra, of being involved in massive corruption and scams.

He highlighted his government’s achievements, saying that during his tenure as Prime Minister, four crore permanent homes had been provided to the poor.

Modi reminds Maharashtra of SC’s Ayodhya ruling

PM Modi also reminded the crowd of the SC ruling on November 9, 2019, which paved way for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He praised the country’s unity in the aftermath of the verdict, noting that people from all religions showed great sensitivity and respect.

He expressed his gratitude for Maharashtra’s continuous support of the BJP, saying the state’s trust in the party was based on its patriotism, political wisdom, and vision. Modi said that the people of Maharashtra have always backed the BJP due to their love for the nation and their understanding of the country’s needs.
