Royal Enfield Bear 650: Top 5 things to keep in mind

Royal Enfield has paid tribute to Eddie Mulder, the youngest-ever winner of the Big Bear Run desert race in California in 1960. The brand has further strengthened its presence in the 650cc segment by unveiling the Bear 650 at EICMA 2024, marking the launch of its first Scrambler in this category. The Bear 650 joins Royal Enfield’s growing 650cc lineup, which now includes six models, with the highly anticipated Classic 650 set to launch soon in the Indian market.

Here are five things one should keep in mind about the new Bear 650.

Royal Enfield Bear 650: Powertrain Specs

The brand-new Bear 650 is powered by the 650-cc parallel-twin air-cooled engine with an output of 47 bhp at 7,250 rpm like the other bikes in the Royal Enfield portfolio, but the Scrambler 56.5 Nm at 5,160 rpm, which has additional torque of 4.3 Nm. The Bear 650 doesn’t get the typical twin exhausts like its siblings rather it has a two-in-one single exhaust. This setup has also allowed the Bear 650 to be around 2 kg lighter than the Interceptor 650. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip-assist clutch.

Royal Enfield Bear 650: Chassis and Hardware

The Bear 650 is based on a steel tubular double cradle frame like the other 650 cc motorcycles. It sports dual-purpose tyres with 19-inch in front and 17 at the rear. The new motorcycle borrows the suspension set up from the Shotgun 650. It is equipped with Showa upside-down 43 mm front forks with a wheel travel of 130 mm while getting twin shocks with a wheel travel of 115 mm. The motorcycle is equipped with a 320mm front disc and 270mm rear disc with dual channel ABS with switchable off at the rear.

The Bear 650’s wheelbase is 1460 mm and has a ground clearance of 184 mm.
