Say hello to Skoda Kylaq: Will Nexon, Brezza lose sleep?

It’s official! Skoda Auto has unveiled its most significant vehicle for the Indian market, the compact SUV called Kylaq. Prices for the Kylaq start at an introductory Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). That said, the Czech automobile manufacturer will announce the prices for all the variants in early 2025.

Bookings for the Kylaq are set to begin December 2 onwards at all authorised dealerships and Skoda’s official India website. Skoda will be showcasing the Kylaq for the public at the next edition of Bharat Mobility Expo in January. Deliveries of the new subcompact SUV will begin from 27 January 2025 onwards. Škoda has released a series of teasers and we also had the opportunity to drive the prototype.

The Kylaq will play a crucial role in Skoda’s 2.5 India strategy. This sub-4 meter SUV is the third vehicle built on the MQB A0-IN platform, following the Kushaq and the Slavia. Produced at Skoda’s Chakan facility in Pune, the Kylaq is expected to have an annual production capacity of 50,000 to 70,000 units. With the compact SUV segment accounting for nearly 30 percent of sales in India, Skoda is determined to position the Kylaq as a strong competitor against rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
