PM Modi head of liars, BJP seeking to plunder mineral resources in Jharkhand: Mallikarjun Kharge

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday of seeking to seize Jharkhand’s mineral wealth rather than focusing on the welfare of its people.

Speaking at a rally in Mandu, Kharge said the BJP’s growing presence in poll-bound Jharkhand — with more leaders than candidates — demonstrated the party’s intent to “grab power” and “plunder” the state’s coal and other resources.

“The BJP has no intention of working for the people’s welfare,” Kharge said. “They are only interested in Jharkhand’s ‘black gold’ (coal).”

Kharge also mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him “jhootho ke sardar” (head of liars) for failing to fulfill promises made during his campaigns, including the pledge to create two crore jobs. “Where is the employment?” Kharge asked.

The Congress leader claimed that the BJP was aiming to oust the tribal Chief Minister Hemant Soren but insisted that Soren would remain the state’s leader.

Kharge also criticised the BJP-led central government for favouring the wealthy. “Five per cent of the rich own 60 per cent of the country’s wealth, while 50 per cent of the poor have just three per cent,” he said, adding that the BJP’s policy had been to waive off debts for the rich while neglecting the poor, farmers, and Dalits.

Kharge called for the immediate clearance of Rs 1.36 lakh crore in coal dues owed to Jharkhand and said the BJP had “no right to continue in power” at the national level.

Elections for the 81-member Jharkhand assembly will be held on November 13 and 20, with vote counting set for November 23.
