Mahindra to unveil two new electric SUVs on 26 Nov: Here’s all details

Mahindra will be marking a new chapter in its automotive legacy later this month with the unveiling of its born electric range of SUVs. It is no secret that Mahindra has been betting big on its born electric range of vehicles which first came into limelight in August 2022 when the company showcased a few prototypes of the upcoming battery-powered SUVs at a private event in London. 

Over the past couple of years, Mahindra has shared glimpses of multiple born electric SUVs which will make headlines in the near future. Now, the homegrown carmaker has officially teased two of its born electric SUVs that will break covers later this month. It has also come to light that Mahindra has altered the nomenclature of its upcoming SUVs.

Mahindra BE 6e, XEV 9e teased

Called BE 6e and XEV 9e, Mahindra has released a short teaser video of both electric SUVs on its new website and YouTube channel. The video confirms that both vehicles will be officially unveiled on 26 November 2024 in Chennai. In all likelihood, the BE 6e and the XEV 9e are rebranded versions of the BE.05 and the XUV.e9 prototypes revealed. Both SUVs, especially the latter, have been spied testing on multiple occasions over the past year or so.

As we already know, the upcoming Mahindra born electric SUVs will be based on the inhouse-developed INGLO architecture. This skateboard electric platform has been co-developed alongside Volkswagen with Mahindra sourcing the electric motors from the German brand. This platform will be available in different configurations– front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive.

Mahindra BE 6e, XEV 9e: Design & expected powertrain

In terms of design, both SUVs share a lot of visual elements with each other. For instance, both vehicles get the same LED lighting strip at the front and the rear which is unique to the born electric range of vehicles. Both cars get sharply receding rooflines especially the XUV 9e which is a proper coupe-SUV which provides the vehicle a very sporty profile. Mahindra BE 6e will be around 4.3m in length whereas  that of the XEV 9e is expected to measure around 4.8 metres. The latter also gets a very prominent ducktail-style spoiler on the liftgate.
