Jharkhand Elections 2024: Amit Shah vows to eradicate naxalism by 2026, criticises Hemant Soren government

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) coalition during a rally in Simaria, Chatra district, on Sunday. Shah accused the current government of “fuelling Naxalism” for political gain and expressed confidence that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union government would eliminate the Naxal threat from the country by March 2026.

During his address, Shah urged voters to oust the “anti-Dalit, anti-tribal, anti-poor, and anti-youth” government, claiming that the JMM coalition has mismanaged resources intended for the welfare of marginalized communities. “We uprooted the menace from Jharkhand during the last five years, and now the Prime Minister Modi-led Centre will wipe out Naxalism from India by March 2026,” he stated.

Shah asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure at least 52 out of 81 assembly seats in the upcoming elections, basing his predictions on recent Lok Sabha election results. He noted that the NDA received 47 percent of the vote share in Jharkhand, winning nine out of 14 parliamentary seats, with a total of 80 lakh votes in favor of the alliance.
