Tata Curvv EV rival Hyundai Creta EV: What we know so far?

Hyundai recently came all over the news due to the launch of its Initial Public Offering (IPO), making it the latest automaker to enter the Indian share market. The Korean auto giant has big plans for the Indian market including EVs — the biggest of them all will be the Creta EV — the company’s next big launch.

It will be Hyunda’s first fully localised EV for the Indian market and the third overall after Kona Electric and Ioniq 5. Test mules of the Creta EV have been spied on numerous occasions over the past year or so. Ahead of its debut, we look at some of the known details and what we can expect from the upcoming Creta EV.

Hyundai Creta EV: Expected launch, rivals

As per earlier reports, Hyundai is gearing up to start production of the battery-powered Creta by the end of this year while a market launch is expected sometime in the first quarter of 2025. Upon launch, the Creta EV will compete against a wide range of compact C-segment electric SUVs and crossovers such as MG ZS EV, Windsor EV, Tata Curvv EV, and the upcoming Mahindra BE.05, Maruti Suzuki eVX and its Toyota sibling.

Hyundai Creta EV: Exterior design

The upcoming all-electric Creta will closely resemble its ICE-powered counterpart, especially after the recent major facelift in January this year. The electric version will inherit the same front fascia, featuring the distinctive jewel-theme grille and the split lighting setup with dual-projector LED headlamps and twin LED DRLs. The side profile and rear end are also expected to mirror the design of the current Creta. However, the electric model will differentiate itself with unique dual-tone, machine-cut 17-inch alloy wheels.

Hyundai Creta EV: Interiors & Features

Recent spy shots have offered a glimpse into the interior of the upcoming Creta EV. The cabin layout appears to be largely identical to its ICE-powered sibling. It’s anticipated to feature a twin-screen setup, comprising a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.
