Tata Nexon gets new variants with panoramic sunroof

Since the last few months, Tata Nexon has been the undisputed leader in the sub-compact SUV segment in India. Tata Motors offers a wide range of options for the Nexon which includes multiple powertrain and transmission options, making it a very tempting choice for a large consumer base.

Another big reason for Nexon’s popularity is the amount of features it offers. Until now, the Nexon was only available with a single-pane electric sunroof on the higher trims. Tata Motors has now introduced a panoramic sunroof on selected variants internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered Nexon, making it the second subcompact SUV space after Mahindra XUV 3XO to get this feature.

The panoramic sunroof in Nexon is limited to the top-spec Fearless+ trim only which is offered at a starting price of Rs 13.60 lakh (ex-showroom) for the petrol manual variant. It is also available with the petrol automatic, diesel manual, and diesel automatic variants of the Fearless+ trim. The variant with the panoramic sunroof comes equipped with other features such as voice assistance for sunroof operations and an 8-speaker JBL audio system over the next best Fearless+ dual-tone trim which costs Rs 1.30 lakh than the former.

Interestingly, Tata Motors has introduced the panoramic sunroof in the Nexon iCNG first which was launched last month. In the Nexon iCNG, Tata Motors offers a panoramic sunroof in the Creative+ trim onwards which is priced at Rs 12.80 lakh (ex-showroom). It is also the only CNG vehicle in India to offer a panoramic sunroof.

The Nexon ICE gets two engine options: a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The former pushes out 118 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque whereas the latter develops 114 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The CNG version of Nexon gets the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol which kicks out 100 bhp and 170 Nm of torque while being paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
