Stocks in Focus: GIFT Nifty traded lower as the index was down 68 points or 0.28% at 24,306 indicating a lower start for domestic indices NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex on Thursday. Previously, on Wednesday, the NSE Nifty 50 closed the session 126 points or 0.52% lower at 24,341, while the BSE Sensex fell 427 points or 0.53% to close at 79,942.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals
Torrent Investments, a promoter entity of Torrent Pharmaceuticals, sold a 2.9% stake in the company for Rs 3,086 crore through open market transactions. Torrent Investments sold 99.44 lakh shares, or 2.94% of Torrent Pharmaceuticals’s shares, according to the bulk deal data available with the BSE.
LIC
Life Insurance Corporation of India said tax authorities have slapped a demand notice of about Rs 65 crore on it for short payment of Goods and Services Tax (GST) for 2017-18. Besides, there is a penalty of Rs 6.5 crore and interest as applicable.
Tata Power
Tata Power has approved Rs 5,666 crore investment for setting up a 1,000 MW pumped storage hydro project. The company aims to set up the project in Bhivpuri over a period of 44 months.
Yatharth Hospital
Yatharth Hospital and Trauma Care Services had entered into an agreement to acquire a 60% equity stake in a healthcare services company MGS Infotech Research and Solutions, at an enterprise value of Rs 152 crore. The acquisition includes a yet-to-commence 400-bed hospital in Faridabad, Haryana.
Adani Power
Adani Power and Adani Renewable Energy Fifty Five signed pacts to supply about 6,500 MW of power to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company. Adani Power has signed an agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company to supply nearly 1,500 MW of power.
Reliance Home Finance
Sebi sent demand notices to six entities, including Reliance Home Finance’s promoter entity, asking them to pay Rs 154.50 crore for diverting funds from the company. The regulator has warned these entities to attach assets and bank accounts if they fail to make the payment within 15 days.
