Meanwhile, Deepak Patel is the party’s pick for the Phulpur seat, Dharmraj Nishad for Katehari and Suchismita Maurya for Majhawan. For the remaining two seats, there is speculation that the BJP will leave it vacant for its allies in UP.

The opposition, Samajwadi Party (SP) as announced it will contest all nine seats with the support of its INDIA bloc allies. Congress, also an INDIA ally, will not be announcing its candidates.

The bypolls were necessitated as eight of the seats fell vacant after their MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha. Sisamau seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki following his conviction in a criminal case.

The results of the byelections will be announced on November 23, alongside results of Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections.
