Fab 4 affordable EVs to help improve Delhi’s air quality

As the festive season approaches, temperatures drop, and the intense summer heat begins to wane, we often feel a renewed sense of energy. However, amidst this seasonal cheer, a more concerning reality emerges rising air pollution levels. Instead of playing the blame game and pointing fingers at those responsible for maintaining our most basic need—breathing clean air—we need to focus on solutions. With the government and its partners actively developing charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs), let’s explore some of the most affordable EVs currently available in the market that could help reduce air pollution.

MG Comet EV

MG has broken conventions with its compact two-door Comet EV. Initially met with scepticism, the car quickly proved its practicality. It features a spacious cabin, modern amenities, and easy access to the rear seating. Powered by a 17.3 kWh battery, it delivers an output of 41 bhp and 110 Nm of torque, with a driving range of 230 km. The Comet EV can be charged using a 3.3 kW AC charger or a 7.2 kWh charger. The former battery takes 7 hours to fully charge while the latter takes only 3 hours.

Tata Tiago EV

The Tata Tiago EV is an electric version of the popular four-door hatchback and is the most affordable EV in Tata Motors’ lineup. It comes in two battery options: 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The entry-level battery offers 61 bhp and 110 Nm of torque, claiming a driving range of 250 km, while the larger battery provides 75 bhp and 114 Nm, with a top range of 315 km. Additionally, the Tiago EV features a Sport mode.
