After iPhones, Blinkit to deliver other Apple products

Blinkit, the quick commerce arm of Zomato, has now started delivering other Apple products like MacBook Air, iPad AirPods, Apple Watch and other accessories in 11 major cities.

It has been delivering iPhones since 2022 when it hosted iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. In 2023, it tied up with Apple premium reseller Unicorn to start offering iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

Last year, it started selling the latest iPhone 16 on the day of its launch in September.

Quick commerce companies have been challenging each other, as well as traditional e-commerce giants like Flipkart and Amazon, by offering quicker delivery of electronics.

The move is primarily aimed at letting customers make bigger purchases and improve the average order value (AOV) on their platforms. In this, mobile phones have emerged as the hotspots.

When the latest iPhone was launched last year, bigbasket tied up with Tata’s Croma to provide its quick delivery. Zepto also offered the iPhone 16 on its platform.

Blinkit earlier this year announced that it has partnered with Xiaomi and Nokia to bring their phones to buyers in 10 minutes, starting in parts of Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

With the latest move, it is now taking other Apple products to cities like Chandigarh, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Jaipur and Kolkata.

Recently, Blinkit has also started selling TVs, laptops, monitors, and printers on its platform.

While groceries continue to remain the backbone of quick commerce majors in India, electronics have emerged as one of the fastest-growing categories, according to Datum Intelligence.

A report released by the consultancy in November showed that 48% of quick commerce users purchased a mobile phone on the platform in the last six months. As many as 47% said they purchased other electronic items during the time period.

Moreover, analysts have pointed out that for high-priced items like electronics and homeware, customers prefer to pay via EMIs.

In October, Blinkit had launched an option to purchase items priced above Rs 2,999 on EMIs.

“We believe this will improve affordability and enable better financial planning for our customers,”
