New TVS electric scooter on cards, launch by March 2025

TVS has big plans to expand its electric two-wheeler lineup although most of the company’s plans are in the dark. The Hosur-based manufacturer already retails the extensive iQube range while the flagship X is yet to hit the roads in the country. Now there are plans to introduce yet another electric scooter.

TVS to launch new electric scooter

According to a recent Autocar India report, TVS is planning to launch another electric scooter by March 2025. This development was confirmed by TVS Motor Director and CEO KN Radhakrishnan during an investor’s meeting. With electric two-wheeler penetration still in single digits, automakers see a significant scope for growth in the segment.

Radhakrishnan, however, refused to divulge any specific details about this upcoming battery-powered two-wheeler. While EV penetration is yet to reach double-digit penetration, automakers see a significant scope for growth in the segment. TVS was the second largest manufacturer in the electric two-wheeler market of India behind Ola Electric till August. In September, Bajaj Auto overtook TVS for the second spot with 19,128 units rolling out of the Chakan plant as compared to 18,099 units produced by TVS.

As for the upcoming product, we expect TVS to launch something more affordable than the iQube range. This will enable TVS to position itself against other entry-level e-scooters from the market leader Ola Electric like S1 X. The iQube is the mainstay for TVS in the battery-powered space but it is priced at a premium Rs 94,999 to Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The iQube is available in five trims with three battery pack options–  2.2 kWh, 3.4 kWh and 5.1kWh units with a range of 75km, 100km, and 150km, respectively. The iQube is also one of the best equipped electric scooters in the country with the top-spec iQube ST offering features like full LED lighting, TFT instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call/SMS alerts and safety features such as geo-fencing,
