Wipro dividend announcement: Interim dividend of Rs 6 declared

IT major Wipro on Friday announced an interim dividend of Rs 6 per equity share of par value Rs 2 each to the members of the company as on January 28, 2025, being the record date. 

In a regulatory filing, it said, “The Board of Directors (Board) of Wipro Limited (Company), have at their meeting held over January 16-17, 2025, considered and approved payment of interim dividend of Rs 6 per equity share of par value Rs 2 each to the Members of the Company as on January 28, 2025, being the Record Date. The payment of Interim Dividend will be made on or before February 15, 2025.”

Earlier in an exchange filing on January 6, the IT major had announced that its board of directors is scheduled to meet on January 17 (Friday) to consider condensed audited consolidated financial results of the Company under IFRS for the quarter ending December 31, 2024. Wipro had further said that the company will also declare the interim dividend for financial year 2024-25.

Wipro has a history of issuing interim dividends, and this included Re 1 per share in both January 2024 and January 2023, as well as Rs 5 per share in April 2022. The last instance of a dividend greater than Rs 5 per share occurred in 2015 when the company had declared a final dividend of Rs 7 per share.

Further, Wipro has, in addition to dividends, also regularly issued bonus shares and conducted equity share buybacks. During the last quarter, Wipro board had recommended the issue of bonus shares to shareholders (including stock dividend to ADS holders) in the ratio of 1:1 (1 equity share for every 1 equity share held).

Wipro released its fiscal third quarter numbers with profit growth of 24.66 per cent to Rs 3366.70 crore in comparison to Rs 2700.60 crore recorded during the corresponding quarter of FY24. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 22,318.80 crore, marginally higher than Rs 22205.10 crore posted during the same period of previous financial year.
