Urban Company drags Kent RO Systems to High Court

Urban Company, the technology marketplace for home services, has moved the Delhi High Court against healthcare products company Kent RO Systems, alleging that Kent caused losses worth “several crores” by having Urban Company’s water purifiers delisted from major e-commerce platforms.

In 2023, Urban Company, formerly known as UrbanClap, launched its own water purifiers under the brand name Native.

In 2024, Kent RO Systems, known for its reverse osmosis (RO) water purifiers, claimed that Urban Company was using its patented RO technology in the Native purifiers.

The High Court had previously issued a summons to Kent regarding its allegations but notably did not restrain Urban Company from using the technology in question.

Urban Company has now alleged that Kent’s actions led to its products being delisted from Amazon and Flipkart during key festive sales, resulting in significant financial losses.

Urban Company also argued that the delisting damaged its market presence by stripping the products of their best-seller status and lowering their ranking among similar offerings.

Although the products have been relisted, Urban Company expressed concerns that Kent might again reach out to these platforms to disrupt its sales during the upcoming Republic Day sales.

Kent RO has sought time to seek instructions and bring an amicable solution to the matter. The case has been adjourned till January 21.

Kent RO Systems has sought time to seek instructions and explore an amicable resolution to the issue. The case has been adjourned until January 21.
