The Congress party has announced its first list of candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, featuring 21 names, including key figures like state Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon, senior leader Ajoy Kumar, and Health Minister Banna Gupta.
Oraon will be contesting from the Lohardaga (ST) seat, reserved for Scheduled Tribes, while Gupta will run from Jamshedpur West, and Kumar from Jamshedpur East.

Jharkhand is set to vote in two phases, on November 13 and 20, with the results coming out on November 23.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren shared that the INDIA bloc will contest the polls as a united front. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress will jointly field candidates in 70 out of the 81 seats in the state. Talks are ongoing with other INDIA bloc members, like the RJD and Left parties, for the remaining seats.

On the BJP front, the party released its first list of 66 candidates. State BJP president Babulal Marandi will contest from Dhanwar, while other big names include Lobin Hembrom from Borio and Sita Soren from Jamtara. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren has been nominated from Saraikella, Geeta Balmuchu from Chaibasa, Geeta Koda from Jagannathpur, and Meera Munda, the wife of Union Minister Arjun Munda, will be contesting from Potka.
The BJP has teamed up with AJSU, JD-U, and LJP for these elections. BJP will contest 68 seats, AJSU will contest 10, JD-U will get two, and LJP one. Back in 2019, the JMM-led UPA secured victory with 47 seats, while the BJP won 25 in the 81-member assembly.
