Royal Enfield Bear 650 deliveries commence across India

Royal Enfield has commenced deliveries of its latest 650, the Interceptor Bear, across India. The Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650 is priced at Rs 3.39 lakh onwards and is based on the Interceptor, but designed to handle tougher terrain and features better suspension components compared to the motorcycle it’s based on.

Royal Enfield Bear 650 — More details

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is based on the same chassis as the Interceptor, however, it has been strengthened to handle heavy-duty suspension at both ends. Speaking of which, the motorcycle gets long-travel USD forks at the front as compared to the Interceptor’s telescopic units. Rear suspension duties are taken care of by dual shocks.

The Bear 650 is taller owing to the change in suspension setup and braking duties are done by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. The Bear also gets a 19-17 wheel setup and the instrument console is a TFT unit with navigation.

Royal Enfield Bear 650 — Engine specifications

The engine is the same unit as the Interceptor 650 or any other motorcycle in Royal Enfield’s 650cc segment and makes 47bhp with the help of a 6-speed manual gearbox. One change in this area is the torque, as the Bear makes 57Nm of torque compared to the Interceptor’s 52Nm. The Bear 650 also gets a two-into-one exhaust system, helping save weight.

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 competes with the Interceptor itself, as there is no other direct competitor for the motorcycle. BSA will soon launch a competitor, the B65 scrambler based on the Goldstar. However, this will come to India late next year.
