Maruti Suzuki Baleno to add new top-spec CNG trim

The year 2024 has witnessed a significant surge in CNG vehicles in the passenger vehicle segment, with October showing a remarkable 67 per cent year-on-year increase. Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki, the leader in the CNG market, is gearing up to launch a top-end CNG variant of the Baleno. This would mark a first for the brand’s Nexa division, as Maruti Suzuki has traditionally offered CNG options only in its entry-level and mid-range trims. The company has yet to officially confirm the new CNG variant.

The Baleno CNG is powered by an 1197 cc naturally aspirated petrol engine with an output of 76 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 98.5 Nm at 4,300 rpm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. According to Maruti Suzuki, the Baleno CNG returns a mileage of 30.61 km/kg and has a CNG tank capacity of 55 litres.
