Jet fuel prices surge by 1.45%; aligns with international trends

Jet fuel or Aviation Tribune Fuel (ATF) price was increased by Rs 1,318.12 per kilolitre(kl) or 1.45 per cent to Rs 91,856.84 per kl in Delhi on Sunday. The rate of commercial LPG used in hotels and restaurants increased by Rs 16.5 per 19 kg cylinder during the monthly revision aligned with international oil price trends.

This is the second straight monthly increase in jet fuel prices.

The authorities increased rates by Rs 2,941.5 per kl or 3.3 per cent on November 1. This hike came after two rounds of reductions, which had brought the rates to their lowest level this year. On October 1, they cut the ATF price by 6.3 percent (Rs 5,883 per kl), and on September 1, they reduced it by Rs 4,495.5 per kl, or 4.58 percent.

Mumbai also witnessed the price rise of ATF on Sunday by oil firms, to Rs 85,861.02 per kl from Rs 84,642.91 previously. They also increased the price of commercial LPG by Rs 16.5, bringing it to Rs 1,818.50 per 19-kg cylinder.

This marks the fifth consecutive monthly hike in the commercial LPG price. During the last revision on November 1, they had raised the rates by Rs 62 per 19-kg cylinder. In five price increases, oil firms have raised commercial LPG rates by Rs 172.5 per 19-kg cylinder, bringing the prices to their highest level in one year. These increases have offset the four monthly reductions made before the current cycle, which began in August.

ATF and LPG prices vary by state due to local taxes like VAT. However, the price of domestic cooking gas remains unchanged at Rs 803 per 14.2-kg cylinder. State-owned oil companies IOC, BPCL, and HPCL adjust ATF and cooking gas prices monthly based on international fuel prices and exchange rates.

Petrol and diesel prices remain frozen, with petrol costing Rs 94.72 per litre and diesel priced at Rs 87.62 in Delhi. Rates were last cut by Rs 2 per litre in mid-March before the general elections
