Maharashtra Elections 2024: Scuffle breaks out between Shinde Sena, independent candidate in Nandgaon | WATCH

A scuffle broke out on Wednesday between supporters of Suhas Kande, representing the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and independent candidate Samir Bhujbal during voting in Nandgaon for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

A video of the altercation has surfaced on social media. Bhujbal is contesting independently after parting ways with Ajit Pawar’s faction.

In a separate incident, 21 electronic voting machines (EVMs) were replaced in the Hingoli assembly constituency following technical issues identified during mock polls. Election officials confirmed that the replacement did not disrupt the voting process in the affected booths. Polling continues in the Basmath, Hingoli, and Kalamnuri constituencies of the Hingoli district in the Marathwada region.

As of 11 am, Maharashtra recorded a voter turnout of 18.14 per cent across its 288 assembly constituencies. Gadchiroli district reported the highest turnout at 30 per cent within the first four hours, with Aheri registering 30.6 per cent and Armori 30.75 per cent.

In Mumbai, the city district reported 15.78 per cent turnout, while the suburban district saw 17.99 per cent. Colaba recorded 13.03 per cent, Mahim 19.66 per cent, and Worli 14.59 per cent. Bhandup in the suburban region led with 23.42 per cent turnout.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency in Thane saw 18.22 per cent voter turnout. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s Nagpur South-West constituency recorded 19.91 per cent.
