Taxpayers’ Lounge at India International Trade Fair: Get all your tax-related queries answered and issues resolved!

The Income Tax (I-T) Department has set up a Taxpayers’ Lounge at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024, held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from November 14-27, 2024.

The Taxpayers’ Lounge has bee set up to educate and assist the public in understanding tax services and responsibilities, making tax-related processes more accessible and user-friendly.

Focus on taxpayer services:

Inaugurated by Ravi Agrawal, chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the Taxpayers’ Lounge offers various services to simplify tax-related queries. Visitors can get assistance with PAN and Aadhaar-PAN linking, e-filing, tax credit information, and issues related to TDS. The Taxpayers’ Lounge also provides support for international taxation, faceless assessment, and appeals.

Interactive resources for all ages:

The Lounge is designed to be an informative space for everyone, including children. A dedicated Children’s Corner features interactive activities like board games, VR games, and digital comic books to introduce young visitors to taxation and civic duties in a fun and engaging way.

Engaging events and activities:

To add an element of entertainment, the Lounge hosts events such as Nukkad Natak, quiz shows, drawing competitions, and magic shows, all revolving around themes of taxation and nation-building. These activities aim to foster awareness of the nation’s progress through taxpayer contributions.

Encouraging taxpayer responsibility:

Built around the theme, “My contribution in developed India, my income tax is my responsibility”, the Taxpayers’ Lounge highlights the critical role of taxpayers in India’s development. It underscores the importance of tax compliance as the country strives to build a prosperous and modern India by 2047.

Promoting e-governance:

The Taxpayers’ Lounge reflects the Income Tax Department’s evolution toward e-governance, helping taxpayers navigate the digital landscape of tax filing and services. The initiative aims to make tax compliance more convenient and transparent, positioning taxpayers as essential partners in India’s growth.

The Taxpayers’ Lounge represents the department’s evolution as a model of e-governance and an enabler for the honest taxpayers, and highlights the role of the taxpayers as partners in the nation’s progress.
