Porsche 911 GT3 gets updates to celebrate 25th anniversary

Porsche, to celebrate 25 years of the GT3, has updated the 911 GT3 and the 911 GT3 Touring for this year, with mechanical changes, design updates, and optional extras. Porsche claims that the 911 GT3 will offer a “more exhilarating” experience, so let’s take a look at what’s changed.

New Porsche 911 GT3 — What are the updates?

Let’s start with the mechanicals — the GT3 gets tweaked cylinder heads and sharper camshafts from the GT3 RS. The new Porsche 911 GT3 also gets improved oil coolers for better efficiency and new throttle valves to improve the overall performance of the car. To comply with the latest emission norms, the car gets two particulate filters and four catalytic converters.

The GT3 Touring, which is more road-focused, has one big visual difference from the GT3, which is the lack of a rear wing. The Touring model now gets optional rear seats, which require the front seats to be replaced with carbon-fibre seats with a foldable backrest to make way for passengers. The car can also be had with sports seats that are power-adjustable.

While there have been mechanical updates as mentioned earlier, the car carries forward the same flat-six engine that makes 510bhp and 450Nm of torque. The new 911 GT3 can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The former does 0–100kmph in 3.9 seconds while the DCT get the car from a standstill to 100kmph in 3.4 seconds. Porsche has also done tweaks to the final drive and dampers, while the anti-dive system has also been updated to reduce pitch while braking.
