The entire Indian automotive industry is keenly waiting in anticipation for Mahindra upcoming range of Born Electric SUVs. The homegrown carmaker has lined up a wide range of Born Electric vehicles which are slated to hit the roads in the next 3-4 years. Mahindra will unveil the first two EVs from this range on November 26.
A few days earlier, Mahindra confirmed its debut date via a short teaser video. This was followed by teasers revealing exterior and interior highlights of both electric SUVs– BE 6e and XEV 9e. The most recent teaser was released a couple of days ago revealing key design details of Mahindra electric origin SUVs.
Mahindra XEV 9e spied
Ahead of its official debut next week, a test mule of the XEV 9e was clicked recently. The prototype of the coupe electric SUV was spotted testing in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Karan Kashiappa for sharing these images. Despite being completely wrapped in camouflage, the test mule reveals quite a few details about the XEV 9e.

It is clearly evident that the XEV 9e prioritises aerodynamics and this can be confirmed through its profile. The swooping roofline and sharp creases enhance the XEV’s aerodynamic silhouette. Essentially a coupe electric derivative of XUV700, the XEV 9e gets triangular headlamp clusters housing vertically stacked twin projector LED lamps with and fog lamps. The LED DRL strip runs across the width and sides of the front fascia.

The squared wheel arches amplify the XEV’s SUV stance. At the rear, the biggest highlight is the ducktail-style tailgate spoiler with a similar LED DRL pattern like the front face which gives it a unique identity. Interestingly, the charging flap is neatly tucked in at the left side of the tailgate.
