Mahindra XUV400 earns 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP

Mahindra topped the chart with the XUV400 EV scoring 5-star safety ratings in Bharat NCAP’s crash tests. The EV SUV is equipped with safety features, including six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and all four disc brakes. It also comes with a reverse camera with adaptive guidelines. The XUV400’ is the second EV to score 5-star adult and child safety rating after the Tata Nexon EV. 

Mahindra XUV400: Adult Occupant Protection Rating

The XUV400 scored an impressive 30.38 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection. It managed to overtake the Nexon by a whisker as it received 29.86 points. The Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test secured 14.38 out of 16 as compared to the Nexon’s 14.26. In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, the Mahindra EV SUV received the full 16 points while the Nexon got 15.60.

Mahindra XUV400: Child Occupant Protection Rating

In Child Occupant Protection Rating, the XUV400 scored 43 out of 49 while its competition, the Nexon managed 44.95. The XUV400 secured a full 24 and 12 points for Dynamic Score and CRS Installation Score respectively. The Nexon managed to inch ahead of the XUV400 as it scored 33.95 out of 49. It got 23.95 in Dynamic Score, a full 12 points in CRS Installation Score and 9 out of 13 in Vehicle Assessment Score.

The Mahindra XUV400 received a perfect score of 12 points for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old child safety. In comparison, the Tata Nexon scored 11.95 points for 18-month-old child safety, while earning a full 12 points for the safety of a 3-year-old child.
