Updated Hero Mavrick unveiled at EICMA: Old vs new differences

Hero MotoCorp showcased the updated Mavrick at EICMA, which gets subtle, but important upgrades. The Hero Mavrick is a product based on the Harley-Davidson 440X but with Hero’s take on the motorcycle. Praised for its calm nature, the updated the Hero Mavrick gets is a welcome move by Hero MotoCorp. The updated Hero Mavrick’s price will be announced soon in India.

New Hero Mavrick facelift — What are the updates?

The Hero Mavrick retains its overall design of being an easy motorcycle, but gets an updated front suspension. The Mavrick now gets golden USD forks, replacing the traditional telescopic units. This will make a big difference in terms of unsprung weight, adding to the comfort of the motorcycle.

The next big update is the instrument cluster, which is now a TFT unit. This replaces the LCD dash from the current-generation model. What’s interesting is the fact that the new Mavrick has lost weight — it now weighs 189kg compared to the current-gen vehicle’s 191kg mass. The new Mavrick also gets new colour options.

New Hero Mavrick facelift — What’s unchanged?

The motorcycle remains to be built around a trellis frame and rides on 17-inch wheels front and rear. The entry-level variant continues to ride on wire-spoke wheels while the higher variants ride on alloy wheels. The Hero Mavrick gets disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. The engine also remains the same — a 440cc, air and oil-cooled motor that makes 27bhp and 36Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-assisted clutch.
