Hero MotoCorp has unveiled the flagship model of the Xtreme range, the Xtreme 250R. The naked motorcycle gets a brand new 250 cc liquid-cooled engine. In 2023, Hero showcased the Xtunt 2.5R concept, which was the prototype version of the Xtreme 250R. The Hero motorcycle will square off against the KTM Duke 250. We take a look at how the Xtreme 250R fairs against the KTM streetfighter.
Hero Xtreme 250R vs KTM Duke 250: Engine
The Xtreme 250R is equipped with Hero MotoCorp’s new 250 cc which will make its global debut with this new motorcycle. The new engine will also power the upcoming new Karizma XMR 250. The new 250 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC 4V engine, is derived from the current 210 cc engine. Hero has increased the length of the bore by 7 mm while the head remains the same. According to the company, the new engine produces 29.5 bhp and 25 Nm of torque and the Xtreme 250R does 0 – 60 kmph in 3.25 kmph. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The KTM Duke 250 is powered by single-cylinder liquid-cooled which produces 30.5 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 25 Nm at 7,250 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quick-shifter.
Hero Xtreme 250R vs KTM Duke 250: Hardware
Both the new Xtreme 250R and Duke 250 are based on a trellis frame. The new Hero MotoCorp is equipped with a 43 mm upside-down front suspension and a 6-step adjustable mono-shock rear suspension. According to Hero, the Xtreme 250R has a 50-50 weight balance. It has 17-inch wheels with disc brakes in front and rear.
The Duke 250 comes with 43 mm USD forks and a 10-step adjustable mono-shock at the rear. It sits on 17-inch wheels along with 320 mm front disc brake and 240 mm at the rear. The Duke 250 has a seat height of 820 mm and a ground clearance of 176 mm.

The Xtreme 250R gets an LED projector headlight with LED DRL and a Bluetooth-enabled digital instrument cluster with features like a lap timer and drag timer. It is also equipped with connected features such as navigation and music control.
